God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is faithful. In Psalms He is merciful, on our side, defender, our help and creator.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul says of Jesus, in reference to the experience of the children of Israel in the wilderness, "For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ." In Psalms Jesus is revealed as the One we look to for mercy and the One to whom when we place our trust in Him, we become unshakeable.

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." Psalms 125, "...trust in the Lord."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Trust Me. I will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear and will always provide you a way of escape.

August 27: 1 Corinthians 9; Psalms 120-122

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is self-dening so others can be saved. In Psalms He is a good listener, deliverer, helper and the preserver of the soul.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul says, "Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel." He also says, "woe is me if I preach not the gospel!" In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 9:22-23 "I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you." Psalm 121:7-8 "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Be relevant to those you are trying to reach with the gospel. I will preserve you from evil and keep your soul. I will preserve you as you go about your day.

August 26: 1 Corinthians 8; Psalms 119:89-176

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He knows those who love Him. In Psalms He is faithful, life giver, teacher, protector, savior, merciful, full of lovingkindness, just and righteous judge.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul says, "... one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live." In Psalms the psalmist says, "My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation and Your righteous word."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 8:1 "Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies." 1 Corinthians 8:2 "...if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him." 1 Corinthians 8:9 "But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak." Psalm 119: 132-133 "Look upon me and be merciful to me, as Your custom is toward those who love Your name. Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I know you and your love for Me. Do not be puffed up because of your knowledge, but seek to edify others in love and not be a stumbling block to the weak. I will show you My mercy and direct your steps by My word that no sin may have dominion over you.

August 25: 1 Corinthians 7:20-40; Psalms 119:1-88

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is merciful. In Psalms He is teacher, righteous judge, merciful, savior, comforter, life giver, good and full of lovingkindess.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul says we are "Christ's slaves" "bought at a price." In Psalms, speaking of Jesus, the psalmists writes, "my soul faints for Your salvation"

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 7:35 "...serve the Lord without distraction." Psalm 119:9 "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word." Psalm 119:11 "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." Psalm 119:15 "I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways." Psalm 119:37 "Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

If you desire to cleanse your way, take heed to what I have said in My word. Hide My word in your heart and meditate on it so that you may not sin against Me. I will turn your eyes from looking at worthless things and revive your soul. Serve Me without distraction.

August 24: 1 Corinthians 7:1-19; Psalms 116-118

Today's Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:1-19; Psalms 116-118

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is the gift giver and peace maker. In Psalms He is gracious, righteous, merciful, preserver, savior, kind, truth and good.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul counsels believing spouses who have been married to unbelieving spouses to not divorce, but stay with them, for they will influence them towards salvation in Jesus Christ. In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "I will praise You for You have answered me, and have become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Psalm 116:7 "Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Let your soul find rest in Me, for I have dealt bountifully with you.

August 23: 1 Corinthians 6; Psalms 113-115

Today's Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6; Psalms 113-115

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is justifier, sanctifier and holy. In Psalms He is majestic yet humble, merciful, truth and deliverer.

Jesus and Him Crucifed

In 1 Cornthians Paul says, "As such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." In Psalms 114 Jesus is our deliverer from the Egypt of sin.

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God's." Psalms 115:9 "trust in the Lord."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Trust in Me and glorify Me in your body, which is My holy temple.

August 22: 1 Corinthians 5; Psalms 110-112

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is a righteous Judge. In Psalms He is gracious, full of compassion, just, has righteous wrath, and is a  righteous redeemer.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Pauls says, "For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us." In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "He has sent redemption to His people..."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Psalm 112:4-8 "Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man deals graciously and lends; he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; He will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

As a result of trusting in Me I will cause light to rise out of darkness in your life; you will reflect My graciousness, compassion and righteousness. I will cause you to deal graciously and lend; you will guide your affairs with discretion and never be shaken. You are always in My remembrance and shall not be afriad of evil tidings. When you place your trust in Me your heart will be steadfast and established and you shall not be afraid.

August 21: 1 Corinthians 4; Psalms 107-109

In 1 Corinthians Paul says, "For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel." In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy..."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 4:1 "Let man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." Psalms 107:29-30 "He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven." Psalms 109:4 "...I give myself to prayer."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I have called you as a servant to be a steward of the gospel. Give yourself to prayer. I will calm the storm and still the waves of life. Therefore, you shall be glad when they are quieted and I guide you to your desired destination.

August 20: 1 Corinthians 3; Psalms 105-106

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is the God of grace. In Palms He is good, merciful, has righteous wrath, savior and redeemer.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians, Pauls says "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." The psalmist says of Christ, "Oh visit me with Your salvation" "He saved them for His names sake" "He saved them...and redeemed them" He is "God their Savior."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 3:16-17, "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are." Psalms 105 "Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I dwell in You personally and collectively as the church, so do not defile this holy temple. Take care of the body, which is holy, and do no harm to My anointed servants.

August 19: 1 Corinthians 2; Psalms 103-104

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is a gracious giver and full of wisdom. In Psalms He forgives sin, heals deseases, redeems life, gives lovingkindness and tender mercies, satisfies, renews, executes righteous justice, is merciful and gracious, and slow to anger.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians, Paul says, "For I determined not to know anything amoung you except Jesus Christ and Him Crucified." The psalmist says of Jesus, "He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our trangressions from us."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I have great things in store for you that you haven't even thought of yet.
