God's Character of Love

In 2 Corinthians He is grace to give me strength in weakness. In Ecclesiastes He is fearfully Awesome and the One who gives us the gift of joyful labor.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 & 10 Pauls says, "And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strenth is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Ecclesiastes 5:20 "For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

My gift to you is to keep you busy doing the work that brings your heart joy.

God's Character of Love

In 2 Corinthians He is Father. In Ecclesiastes He is Gift Giver, Righteous Judge, Giver of Wisdom and Knowledge.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 2 Corinthians Paul has suffered for the sake of Christ.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 "Also He has put eternity in their hearts..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I have placed in your heart and in the heart of everyone a longing for the eternal; for Me.

God's Character of Love

In 2 Corinthians He is Giving, the Righteous Judge, Loving, Other-centered, Self-sacrificing, the One who makes all things new and Reconciler who is pleading with us to be reconciled to Himself. In Proverbs He Disciplines, Satisfies, is Merciful, Slow to Anger, Delights in the prayer of the upright and Loves him who follows righteousness.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 2 Corinthians Paul says, "For the love of Christ compells us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

2 Corinthians 5:20 "Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God."

The Holy Spirit says to me today 

I am pleading through you, My ambassador, for people to be reconciled to Me.

God's Character of Love

In 2 Corinthians He is Life Giver, Revealer of Truth, Giver of Freedom and Heart Transformer. In Proverbs He is Loving, Wise Creator, delights in us, gives life and favor.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 2 Corinthians Paul says, "But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remians unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ." In Proverbs Jesus is wisdom Personified. "When He prepared the heavens, I was there." "Then I was beside Him like a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him, rejoicing in His inhabited world, and my delight was with the sons of men." "For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

As you continue to behold My glory in the reading of the Bible, the veil will be taken away in Christ and I will change your character into one like Mine through the Holy Spirit.

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is a Giver of glorious resurrected bodies and Giver of victory over death through Jesus Christ. In Psalms He is Creator, Savior and Righteous Judge.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Jesus' death and resurrection gives us the victory over sin, death and hell. In Psalms David says, "the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in My work, knowing that your labor is not in vain in Me.

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He desires us to pursue His love and edify each other with clear, understandible communication. In Psalms He is Deliverer, Preserver, Savior and Refuge.

Jesus and Him Crucifed

In 1 Corinthians Paul says to, "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." The life of Jesus demonstrated this perfectly. In Psalms David says, "O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation..." "Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall suround me, for You shall deal bountifully with me."

1 Corinthians 14:1 "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." 

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Pursue My love and desire the gifts of the Spirit, especially that you may speak, with understanding, to edify the body.

God's Character fo Love

In 1 Corinthians His love is revealed in the entire chapter. It is a vivid reflection of God's love and the kind of love He made us to have. In Psalms He is full of lovingkindness, truth, answers prayer, makes us bold and strongth within, revives, rescues, saves and is merciful.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In Corinthans Paul's description of the quality and charcateristic of love were clearly revealed in the life of Christ and gloriously at the cross. In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "...Your right hand will save me."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Psalm 139:17-18 "How precious are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Precious are My thoughts of you. I think about you all the time. Even when you wake up, I am still with you.

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He chastens those He loves so that they may not be condemned with the world. In Psalms He abundantly blesses, satisfies and saves.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul speaks of the Lord's supper. The bread is symbolic of the body of Jesus, which was broken for us. The wine is symbolic of the blood of Jesus, which represents the new covenant. In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus that He clothes with salvation. Jesus is also alluded to as the "Annointed."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 11:31-32 "For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Examine your heart, for when I correct you, I do so so that you may not be condemned with the world.

August 30: 1 Corinthians 11:1-16; Psalms 129-131

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is creator. In Psalms He is righteous, forgiving, merciful, full of abundant redemption and calming.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Pauls says "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." In Psalms the psalmist says of Jesus, "there is forgiveness with You" "For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Psalm 131:1-3 "Neither do I concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound for me. Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul...O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Do not worry yourself over anything, for your soul shall be calm and quieted when you place your hope in Me. In Me you will find contentment. Trust Me.

August 29: 1 Corinthians 10:19-33; Psalms 126-128

God's Character of Love

In 1 Corinthians He is the benevolent owner of all the earth. In Psalms He is deliverer, the One who causes us to reap with joy, the One who causes our wives to be fruitful and blesses us with children and the One who blesses the labor of our hands.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Corinthians Paul says, "just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved." Jesus, in the same way, came, not to please Himself, but to profit many that they may be saved. In Psalms the psalmist says, "...the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion..." Jesus is the One who brought us out of the captivity of sin.

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Corinthians 10:24 "Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being." Psalm 126:5-6 "Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Seek the well-being of others. And as you sow the seeds of the gospel, I shall cause you to return rejoicing at the harvest of souls you shall reap.
