God's Character of Love

In Jeremiah 12-14 He is Righteous, knows me, sees me, tests my heart towards Him, angry at idolatry, compassionate, causes us to cling to Him so we may become His people, weeps over our pride and Savior in time of trouble. In 2 Timothy 1 He is gracious, merciful, giver of peace, gift giver, Savior and the One who is able to keep us faithful until His return.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In Jeremiah 12-14 Jesus is the "Hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble..." In 2 Timothy 1 Pauls says of Jesus, "who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel..."

Verse(s) That Speak to Me Today

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

The Holy Spirit Says to Me Today

I have not given you a spirit of fear,but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

God's Character of Love

In Jeremiah 3-5 He is a wounded Lover, the merciful One whose anger will not remain forever, He is married to us, He is our salvation, righteous Judge and the One who knows our hearts. In 1 Timothy 4 He is the Savior of all men.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In Jeremiah 3-5 the prophet says of Jesus, "Truly, in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel." In 1 Timothy 4 Paul says, "...we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

1 Timothy 4:12-16 "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit,in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.  Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Be an example to all in your walk with Me, how you live and in your preaching/teaching. Stay focused and do not neglect your gift. In the process, those who hear you will be saved and yourself as well.

October 22: Isaiah 65-66; 1 Timothy 2

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 65-66 He is God of truth, He hears and answers those who call on Him and He comforts like a mother comforts her child. In 1 Timothy 2 He is Savior, who desires all men to be saved.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In 1 Timothy 2 Paul says of Jesus,"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time..."

Verse(s) that speaks to me today

Isaiah 66:13 "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I will comfort you.

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 59-61 He is Redeemer, in wrath He will strike, but in favor He will have mercy, He is Savior, Comforter, He loves justice and hates robbery. In 2 Thessalonians 3 He is faithful to guard me from evil, loving, gracious, patient and the giver of peace.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In Isaiah 59-61 you have a portion of scripture (61:1-2) that Jesus, the Messiah, read in Nazareth in the synogague. Jesus' announcement of His Messianic mission says, "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prision to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord..." In 2 Thessalonians 3 Paul says of Jesus, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."

Verse(s) that speaks to me today

Isaiah 61:10 "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He as covered me with the robe of righteousness..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Rejoice and find your joy in Me, for I have saved you and covered you in My robe of righteousness.


October 18: Isaiah 53-55; 2 Thessalonians 1

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 53-55 He is the suffering Servant Messiah who takes on my sin, my Husband, my Redeemer, great in mercy, full of everlasting kindness and the One who will abundantly pardon. In 2 Thessalonians 1 He is good and full of grace.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In Isaiah 53-55 Jesus is depicted, especially in 53, as the suffering Servant Messiah who dies for my sin. He says, "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. In 2 Thessalonians 4 Paul says of Jesus, "...that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Isaiah 54:15,17 "Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake." "No weapon formed against you shall prosper..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

They shall fall who assemble against you, neither shall any weapon formed against you prosper.

October 16: Isaiah 47-49; 1 Thessalonians 4

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 47-49 He is my Redeemer, He restrains and defers His anger for His name's (character) sake though He knows my faults, He teaches me, He guides me in the way I should go, He desires my peace and righteousness, He is my salvation, He restores, He is merciful, He comforts, He compassionately cares for us like a parent, He will contend with them that contend with me and He is my Savior. In 1 Thessalonians 4 He is my sanctification, the One who teaches me to love people and my resurrection.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In Isaiah 47-49 Jesus is revealed as our Redeemer who says, "Come near to Me, Hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord God and His Spirit have sent Me." Jesus is also mentioned as the "Servant" who came forth from the womb to be "a light to the Gentiles" and "salvation to the ends of the earth." Jesus, speaking of His crucifixion says, "I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands..." In 1 Thessalonians 4 Paul says about Jesus, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus."

Isaiah 49:23,25 "...they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me...for I will contend with him who contends with you..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I will not let you be ashamed. Just wait on Me and I will contend with him who contends with you.

October 15: Isaiah 45-46; 1 Thessalonians 3

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 45-46 He is our Savior, Justifier, the One who knows the end from the beginning, and is like a mother who births a child and carries them through every stage of life. In 1 Thessalonians 3 He causes us to increase and abound in love and establishes our hearts blameless in holiness.

Jesus & Him Crucifed

In Isaiah 45-46 Jesus is seen as the Savior who saves with an everlasting salvation. He says, "Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth!" In 1 Thessalonians 3 Pauls says, "and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith."

Verse(s) that speaks to me today

Isaiah 46:3-4 "Listen to Me...who have been upheld by Me from birth, who have been carried from the womb: even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry and will deliver you."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

I have upheld you from birth, carried you from the womb and even until your old with gray hairs, I will bear, carry and deliver you.

October 11: Isaiah 37-38; Colossians 3

God's Character of Love

In Isaiah 37-38 He is our defender,deliverer, savior and the One who hears our prayers. In Colossians 3 He gives peace to our hearts, gives us an inheritance as a reward and forgives us in Christ.

Jesus and Him Crucified

In Isaiah 37-38 Hezekiah alludes to the work of Christ when he says, "You will restore me and make me live" and "You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back." In Colossians 3 Pauls says we should forgive each other, because Christ, who "is all in all", has forgiven us.

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Colossians 3:2 "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Focus on Me and not the cares of this world.

God's Character of Love

In Colossians 1 He is gracious, deliverer, loving, redeemer, forgiver, creator, sustainer and reconciler. In Isaiah 32-33 He is gracious, our salvation, our defense, our provider, judge, lawgiver, King and the one who will save us.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In Colossians 1 Paul says of Jesus, "in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." "He is the image of the invisible God" "He is the head of the body" "having made peace through the blood of His cross." Paul also says that through the death of Jesus, He will present you "holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight." In Isaiah 32-33 the prophet depicts the New Jerusalem and the condition of the people whom Jesus saves in the end by saying, "the people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Colossians 1:10-11 "that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy..."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Walk worthy of Me and you will be fruitful in every good work and you will increase in your knowledge of Me. I will strengthen you with My might and glorious power and you will experience patience and longsuffering with joy.

October 8: Philippians 4; Isaiah 30-31

God's Character of Love

In Philippians 4 He is the God of peace, full of grace and ready to supply all our needs. In Isaiah 30-31 He is gracious, merciful, deliverer, a God of Justice, hears the sound of our cry and answers, speaks to us and guides our steps, binds up our bruises and heals our wounds and He burns with anger at unrepentent wickedness.

Jesus & Him Crucified

In Philippians 4 Paul says of Jesus, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Verse(s) that speak to me today

Philippians 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

The Holy Spirit says to me today

Do not worry about things, but rather pray to Me about it and let Me know what you need. Then My peace shall come upon you to guard your heart and mind.
